#6: Tried and failed again

Of the all-important List Of Things To Do, we've tried #6 again today and failed again.

Cot #1 that we got is just too complex to figure. Will need to go back to the manufacturer and ask. But since it was manufactured in (ulp) 1996, I'll keep my fingers crossed that they even still know such a model exists. Hopefully they do and are able to advise us on how it should be set up.

Cot #2 that we got was the tried-and-failed earlier on in the week. That one was really shaky and could literally be pulled apart with bare hands or even just a well placed kick. Confirmed condemned.

Its great that we had help trying tonight to put Cot #1 together - it proves that we're not as silly as we thought we are. It's the cot problem, not our brain problem! haha!

On the upside?
I don't need to get a playpen mattress anymore - the playpen we got back from mum's church is "sengeh" so it won't be used except as a very last resort.

So, if anyone needs me these next few days, I will be found hanging around baby shops trying to find a cot. See you at Taka, Robinsons or John Little - I hope they're still having sales!! Apparently JL and Robinsons sale ended as of last weekend.. Argh.. And I hope the mouse stays inside long enough for us to find her one! Roar!

the Qute Jan 2008

And suitable for an early Valentine's..

3@37

In four weeks, the mouse has gained 500grams to weigh a hefty 3kg.
In the same four weeks, the mother has gained 3.5kg!! Urgh!!

It must be all the Chinese New Year food.
It must be!!!!!
(howls in denial)

However, our enormous mouse hasn't engaged yet, she's still way high up. So I might go over due date - doc predicts she'll make her way down by the end of the month though. Go mouse go!! tuck yourself into a nice position for coming out easily OK??

So far, I've had much to be thankful for this pregnancy:
- No morning sickness; felt nauseous before but quite seldom, and never threw up once.
- No spotting/bleeding/abdominal cramping at all
- No cravings/food aversions whatsoever
- No hypertension
- No gestational diabetes
- Very little leg cramps - in fact only once when it was super cold in Cameron Highlands
- No stretch marks!! Ahaha!!
- Very little water retention that only started very late (35 weeks)
- Slept through the night until recently (35 weeks) and if I wake up, it's only once a night
- Relatively high energy levels until recently too.. So many people have been telling me they're amazed by my stamina.

Shall pray to maintain these all the way to the birth!

And shall pray for:
- she engages by 38 weeks
- position will be optimum for natural birth (head straight down)
- cervix will efface and dilate effectively
- contractions will be effective at getting her into position
- active labour will last less than 30 minutes (out in three pushes! yeah!)
- there will be no need for assisted delivery or surgery

God is good and so is my mouse! =)

Chairman Meow is watching you.. Obey the Dog!

Isn't the Shih Tzu just the best??

Unfortunately, no Silkies, they are just too sweet and cute and fluffy to be World Dominators.

Sympathy (the lack thereof)

G's uncle smsed him:

"SO SAD AH MENG DIED"

(yes, caps and all)

We have absolutely no idea how to show him sympathy.
Lol.

Rats (2)

Happy new year of the rat!

In the past four days, I have:
- Slept too little.
- Eaten too much.
- Visited an old friend who gave birth on the first day of the ratty year!
- Had my desires for ratty clothes for the princess fulfilled - with a giftset from Hong Kong Disneyland, no less! Thank you KQ!
- Answered endless streams of questions about my all-too-prominent tummy.

Conversations of the new year generally go like this:
"You're pregnant!"
"Yes."
"I didn't know!!"
(insert pause - no possible answer to the above - while the Questioner recovers for the next inane question)
"When are you due?"
"5th of March."
"Boy or girl?"
"Girl."
"Ohh!"
"Yes. " (for lack of a better answer to the above. Again.)
"Chosen a name yet?"
"Yes."

Repeat, ad nauseum, as each new relative arrives.

Roar!!

Oh, and the wishlist is updated. =)

Rats

My mother shoved a satisfyingly thick fengshui book for the year into my face the last time I went back home.

It lists, among other things, days that are (contraindicated) for certain activities.

There was one whole page on things to do with your hair!! Like, cutting, dyeing and WASHING hair even. Best, there was one month with three consecutive days where you're not supposed to wash.

Err.
Welcome to the year of the Dirty Rat.

Luxury

had a mini-express pedicure today!

during CNY visit!

Whee!

(extremely pleased with cleaned and trimmed toenails - they've been woefully far out of my reach for the past few months. Thank you Uncle Simon for the thoughtfulness of bringing in the home mani/pedi service!)
