Weight-less chronicles 2 / Shopping notes

Pastor is preaching about the Book of Chronicles in church,

I'm keeping my own Book of Chronicles on losing my preggy weight! Haha!

Here's part 1..

and in the close to 5 weeks since Part 1 was written, I've managed to lose another 5kg. So I'm now at the weight I was at 8weeks pregnant when i first went to see the Stats-Loving Doc. Yippee!!

Unfortunately, I am still totally believable as a new mother - ie still with rolls of fats around my middle and a too-large butt. Nowhere near those XS-sized ladies whose weight just seems to melt off and they are back to pre-preg size within 2 weeks. Sigh! Another 1 month plus to go before I can do any exercise to tone up the flabs too, courtesy of my C-section.

Well, I have managed to fit into my biggest skirt, 2 biggest pair of pants and biggest pair of jeans. My wardrobe is slowly increasing back to include the pre-preg items, yay!

On the other hand it means I have no good excuse to go shopping when the GSS rolls around again. Sigh. Better save money, especially as my new favourite brand, Ted Baker, is sooooo high end.

I heart Ted Baker! Spring is in the Hare!

Anyway, I've treat myself to my first mother's day present, a gorgeous bag from Ted Baker and a pair of shoes from Foxtrot. I think I am getting more bimbotic as I grow older. Oh well.

My lovely new bag! Don't ask how much it costs!

Suay!!

I am so suay!!

Have been caught up in a mini-"controversy" recently regarding an item I wanted to sell to a person I met online.

After much negotiation and conversation over email and sms, we've agreed to meet up for the sale when the buyer last-minute (ie. 3 hours before!) asked for a discount saying that she'd found it on sale somewhere. Since I have no way to check out her actual claim, I used the price of item which I saw near where I was as a gauge and refused to lower the price. I even took a photo of the price tag to prove - lucky I did - cos the buyer's accusing me of lying and misleading her on the price! Ugh!!

Best, when I later went to the store she claimed to see it on sale, there is no such item...

Sigh.

I don't mind people to bargain with me on prices, but I really cannot stand it when people lie to me!! Urgh!! Just be honest and tell me the reason straight, I will appreciate it more than fishy untruths.

To imagine I brought the item out with me for one whole day for nothing! BTW, item is (tah-dah) a vacuum cleaner. No joke siah, to carry it around!!

Oh well, I shall treat is an arm exercise.. maybe it will help me tone up my fat arms sooner..

Absolutely grouchy

Sophie was an absolute grouch today in church. Well, actually, she was a grouch in church last weekend too, but today was even worse!!

She fed, then I played with her for awhile and then put her down to sleep. However, she refused to sleep and when she finally did, she awoke after less than half an hour and began wailing loudly. Sigh!! The wailing was a mixture of hunger and tiredness, which is a vicious cycle:

Wailing due to tiredness = Cannot drink properly.
Cannot drink properly = Even more hungry
Even more hungry = Cannot sleep
Cannot sleep = More tired

Ugh!!

I guess she is not used to the environment in church nursery. It might be too cold / too bright / too noisy than what she's used to?
Hopefully this is the case and she will be able to adjust after a few more times there. Sigh!!

Poses/Wolf in Sheep's Clothing

Presenting..
Kungfu pose

Worship pose

GO AWAY!! pose

Have you ever heard of a "wolf in sheep's clothing"?

Presenting.. a "mouse in mouse clothing". =P
(Pls look closely at the Go Away pose)

heh heh

Sleepy

Sophie is just unbelievable sleepy tonight!!

The usual sequence of steps I will follow when she falls asleep when feeding all failed!!

1. Try to delatch her: (Usually works and she will start sucking again)
- No reaction, happily let go, continue sleeping

2. Put her down: (Usually within 1 minute she will wake up and wail)
- Change pose and continue sleeping

3. Tickle her belly and legs:
- Just wriggle and went back to sleep

4. Transfer her from our bed to cot:
- Moved into her new favourite "Kungfu" pose and sleep

5. Change her diaper:
- Change to "Worship" pose and sleep

6. Cannot take it!! I took off her clothes and changed her to sleepsuit:
- Continue to "Worship" and sleep

Argh!! Unbelievable!!

Maybe I should learn from my friend, she said she kept a spray bottle with cold water to spray on her son's face to wake him up, and then use a face towel to rub the cold water all over his face.

Mumnesia

Had my first case of "mumnesia" yesterday.

Mumnesia = Mum's Amnesia.

Brought Sophie to polyclinic for her 1 month checkup and Hep B jab. She was fussing like mad after that so we were all anxious to get her home and settled. And so, I walked out without paying.

OMG!!!!! I am a criminal!!

And I only realised at 6pm, by which time the polyclinic has closed.

I immediately "confessed" to my MIL and G, who both had a good laugh at me. And I decided to make my way down ASAP this morning after Sophie's bath to pay. I just can't be settled in my heart if I don't do that. Felt so guilty for my lapse..

Surprisingly, when I got to the polyclinic cashier and told her the story, the response is "Oh, its a small matter." Then she accepted my payment with a smile.

Hmmm.. Interesting.

Of course, I am grateful for the graciousness of the cashier and the polyclinic. But does that response mean that people "forget" to pay very often??

If so, I really wonder how many "freeloaders" there are in the Singapore health system. How many people will be conscientious enough to make their way down to pay their bills, knowing that they can get away with it easily? Indeed, there is no need to even make your way past the cashier to get to the polyclinic exit. You can simply walk out. And in the 24 hours that I was a "criminal" not a single call from the polyclinic or NHG itself to indicate that my "crime" has been discovered.

Then I asked myself, if I knew this was the response I would get (oh-its-no-big-deal), would I have been so anxious to go down and pay my "debt"?

And I think, yes, I will be. As mentioned before I can't be peaceful in my mind unless I know that all the things I am responsible for have been settled. Especially in terms of money matters. I have exchanged my precious time (ie. my life) for the money I have earned, so I believe that how I handle money is the best reflection of how I handle the rest of things in life. More so, if I cannot be responsible in the little things, how can I handle big things?

Hmm, but I think another 99% of Singaporeans would not have cared to rush down and return the payment. Maybe some would not be bothered at all, adopt a "wait until they catch me" attitude. Urgh!! Not the attitude for me.

One Month

Baby Sophie is 1 month old!

Aunty Tiffany and Sophie

We had her 1 month celebration on Sunday 6th April. Exactly 1 month after she was born on 6th March. From 1pm, the guests began arriving and soon it was a full fledged "mad house" with lots and lots of people and lots and lots of noise! We catered a buffet from Elsie's Kitchen and the feedback was that the food is good. In fact, it is so good that most of the food was gone before I could even get to try it.. Sigh.. By 7pm, all the guests had left and suddenly the house seemed weirdly quiet.

The buffet line.. yummy yumm

Amazingly to the guests, even with all the noise and being passed to different Kor Kor and Jie Jie to hold, Sophie was still sleeping sooooo soundly. Actually, that's not amazing, there is nothing more that she loves than to be carried to sleep. On the other hand once you put her down she will wake up! And she tolerates noise very well too, must be cos her Daddy and Mummy are such noisy people.. haha..

My mum, 2 cousins Kelly and Karin are all so amused by her antics

Her 1 month celebration also marked the last day of my confinement lady being with us. So for the past 32 hours, we have been looking after Sophie ourselves. Gosh, its really tiring man. She has been waking up many times in the night, and always fussing to be carried in the day, and we don't know why. Maybe
1. she missed the CL? - we always joke that our plus-size CL is Sophie's First-class seat, her Daddy is the Business-class seat, Mummy is Economy class and my very petite mother in law is the Budget Airline. =P
2. she is adjusting to the new environment? - we have shifted her cot into our bedroom from the spare room where she used to sleep with the CL. Maybe the room is brighter, breezier, or some other thing about the place bothers her..
3. she is over tired from Sunday? - although this is kind of hard to believe cos she slept sooooooooo long on Sunday.
4. she is traumatized by her 1 month vaccination? - brought her to AMK polyclinic for the jab today. She only wailed twice immediately after getting the jab but wailed for a long time as we were on the way home and at home as well. Sigh.

Confinement lady carrying Sophie before leaving

Whatever it is, have to think of new ways to entertain her.. Yesterday, the only way she would go to sleep in the afternoon was to lie on my chest. Today early afternoon as well, but at about 3pm she suddenly stopped fussing after her feed and allowed me to lie her down in her cot.. yay.. which explains why I finally got time to blog haha.

BTW if you are wondering why no pictures from the 1 month celebration? Its because this sotong mummy was so busy and forgot to take pictures!! So if you have taken pictures, please send to me, firstcor1614[at]yahoo[dot]com, I will be very grateful!!

Bathe Time

Sophie enjoys her bath time each morning..

Getting ready to go in!

Yes, I would like the new Water Splashing service offered by your Spa. Oh, and bring me drinks on the side too.

Mm, yes Mummy, that massage is good.

Thumbs up for the service by Mummy Bathe Spa
